Our laboratory conducts basic and applied researches on plant
cold hardiness. We use a combination of genetic, molecular biological,
biochemical approaches to understand plant tolerance to envirnmental
stresses, especially low temperature stress. Our long-term goals are to
elucidate the protective mechanisms and signaling pathways used by
plants in responding to environmental stresses and to identify key
genes for modifying the responses of crops to stresses and ultimately
improving the stress tolerance of crops. So far, we have developed
protocols for somatic embryogenesis and genetic transformation of rice
and maize.
The goal of this website is to facilitate the communication
within our lab and among other plant biology communities.
